Calais-Dover.com collects as little data as possible. This statement explains which data is collected when you visit the site, by whom, and what it is used for.
Which data is collected?
You do not need an account to use this site. We only receive personal data when you send us a message through the contact form: your name, email address and message. We use these only to answer your question. Besides that, we use Google Analytics, tracking links and a booking module from a partner.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics shows us how the website is used: which pages are visited, how long visitors stay and which browser they use. We use this to improve the site.
Tracking links
Links to partners such as P&O Ferries, DFDS, Irish Ferries and Direct Ferries run through our own short links (/go/…). If you book after clicking one, we may receive a commission. We only see anonymous click and booking totals, not who you are; the partner you book with does know your details.
Booking module
The booking module at the top of our pages is provided by Direct Ferries. If you search or book there, Direct Ferries processes your details, such as your name, contact details and payment information. We have no access to this data. Read the Direct Ferries privacy policy for how they handle it.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. We use them for three purposes: to remember your language choice, to measure how the website is used (Google Analytics), and to show services from other providers on our pages, such as the booking module, maps and the ferry tracker. We do not show advertising and we do not sell data.

Our /go/ links count clicks without placing a cookie. The ferry operator or booking site you land on may place its own cookies.

Embedded content
Some pages show content from other websites, such as maps, webcam images or the weather map. That content behaves as if you visited the other site directly: the provider may collect data, place cookies and see how you use the embedded content, especially if you are logged in to an account with them.
